Janathon Day 25 = Slendertone Day 1.

Plus 1 short sharp bike ride from work, yaaay, the work route again!!

Back on around day 10, I said I couldn't wait to not have to run for a day. I was hoping I would still be fit and to just have a nice fluffy rest day, and also of course for it to be February!

Ah well, musn't dwell on crapness, just got to get on with stuff.

I do have a few things to thank Janathon for, mainly all the nice shiny new chums on Twitter and the realisation that it's not just me that is a massive fan of porridge and jam, woop woop.
One other thing is the shiny new Slendertone System+ Abs belt that I have been sent for nothing!! Freebies are cool! All I have to do is test it on a minimum 28 day trial using a 4 week plan and blog about the results (or lack of). And I shall be including pictures of THE BELLY! This I shall do as of tonight.

Wifey took delivery of the unit this morning, and very kindly plugged it in to charge it up. This is the new unit that uses a rechargable battery unit as opposed to the older style disposable battery and mains powered types. This newer unit also does not require the use of any sort of gels as the pads are covered in a water based non-sticky but very sticky (if you know what I mean) gel. There really is no other way to describe the stuff, and my grasp of English does not allow me come up with the correct word for this goo, though I'm sure there is one.
After reading through the instructions carefully, I pulled out my hair clippers and gave the chesty cakes and tummy area a bit of a trimming. This is in the hope that I would get a better contact, and also to show the results, if there are any, in much better detail. *WARNING* NAKED TUM TUM COMING UP!

Whether trimming the tub will make any difference or not I don't know, but it never hurts to give it a go.

Anyroad, I stuck the pads to the belt in the medium position, there are 3 marks on the belt, small, medium and large, and the 2 smaller oval shaped pads go in these markings, while the larger square pad goes over the big square in the middle of the belt.
After trying the belt on first to make sure I had it in the correct position, I took it off and removed the protective plastic sheets from the "skin" side of the pads. These have to be kept then put back on when you have finished your workout to stop the non sticky sticky goop from drying out.
I then put the belt back round the jelly, hence -

Once I'd got the belt back on, I plugged the program/power unit into the belt, the plug-in unit is tucked away just inside the belt, and switched it on. I went for the intermediate program - the 2nd of the 8 - and turned up the intensity to 40/150. This was comfortable and not to vigorous for my first go. It was 25 minutes of twitchy tummy pleasantness, though tomorrow I think I shall turn the wee fella up to maybe 60 or 70. Afte the 25 mins I got beeped at, and removed the belt, un-plugged the power unit, replaced the pad protectors and put it all away in the tidy little carry bag thingy like a good little boy.

Thanks all for reading, if you're still awake that is.

I shall update again in a weeks time, with more pics, yaaaay.

My challenge is at an end.

It is official now. I missed a run and a blog, my push for the 405 is kaput.
I shall continue to exercise by other means however, mostly in a pedalled manor, bash out a few extra miles to and from work, providing the weather stays nice of course.
And for those of you who actually read and possibly enjoy this Berksheerian tripe, I shall continue to blog, as I actually enjoy it. Never though I would!

I still have my Slendertone test and review, along with pics of my freshly shawn gut (in the name of science you understand!) to do, as well as my TT. As I seem to be playing quite well at the mo *taps table quick-sharp* I shall start a wee blog about that. Maybe about the training upto and including racing at the Reading Half on March 20th, and the progress I can make at breaking the 10k 45 min barrier, and ultimately the training for (if they do it this year) the Abingdon Marathon in October, or when ever they do it.

I will also keep you up to date on wifey's 10k training for the Oxford Town & Gown as well as any other news I think you might be bothered about.
Thankyou all again, see you at Hyde Park on the 12th.

Ow step ow step come on Stu ow step ow step, BOLLOX!

Yep, BOLLOX indeed.

I fear my Janathon may actually be over. For once I may have to quit something through injury rather than the usual bout of bone-idleness which usually hits me.

I was determined to hit the 100 mile mark today, even though I had a fair bit of pain in the left ankle. This could have been my undoing, my new found stubborness that is the fame of runners around the world.
I stepped/limped out the door at 1.10 today, after much clearing up of child sick during the night and some of this morning, with a bloodstream full of pain killers and anti-inflams, neither of which actually seemed to make a blind bit of difference, with the aim of doing 9 miles. This would have taken me past the sacred number that is 100. Slight pain and everso slight limpage for the first 3 miles, not to bad this Stu, I thought to myself, could be good. By this point I was coming up to the Ladygrove estate, 3 more miles would take me round Ladygrove and past the Power Station and upto Milton Park. By the 6 mile point my ankle was starting to hurt properly now and the limp was getting more pronounced and heavier. The last 3 miles would take me through Milton Park, around the A34 interchange, up Milton Hill, into Rowstock and back home to the bath.
I did not make it out of Milton Park. A grand distance total of 7.26 miles in just over an hour. I wasn't going for speed, just distance. I ended up calling mummy out to pick me up and give me a lift back home.
It wasn't till I got in the car when I logged the run on my Running Log app that I realised how close I really was to hitting the 100 mile mark. 0.67 miles!!! BASTARDS!!! I could've forced myself to do it, and saved mother the bother of coming out. All I had to do was turn round and run in a straight line that would have taken me back to work where I could have picked my bike up and ridden home. As it is, I MAY have to attempt to run into work tomorrow to fetch my bike, so all hope is not lost, although it may well get left behind at some point.

If this is the end of my Janathon, I want to say a massive thankyou to those of you who have left shiny comments here and encouraged me elsewhere. And also, a serious well done to all those still kicking and typing.
If this is not the end, well, you'll have some more rubbish to read tomorrow then won't you.

Whatever happens, I will be along to the Hyde Park bash in Feb. I hope there is a beer tent!

How boring am I getting!

21 days down and other bits of me are starting to hurt that weren't hurting before. Please pills, keep me going, and please organisers of the Janathon, no random drug testing please!!! Nowt naughty in the system, just lots of paracetomol and ibuprofen. Seems like they have been very much part of my diet this month!

Same old run home tonight. Was hoping to hit a 10k'er but a combo of hurty bits and late security officers kicked that one up the jacksie so just put the hard house on again and done the usual trek home to a waiting wifey, sweet n sour chicken and bottle of Crabbies ginger beer.
I have promised myself that I will hit the 100 mile mark tomorrow, but to make this I will now have to do a 9 miler. Not sure if my legs will be up to it but I'm going to give it a bash anyway. Supposed to do a 1hr40 long run anyway but I think I shall just keep it to 9 miles.

By the way, for the Hyde park meet in Feb, just so you know who I am, here is a pic of me playing TT. Just the warm up by the way, hence the trousers.

Happy jolly. Oh, and 2/3 done!

Nice run this morning, just the steady plod into work at 6.20. Pretty chilly out, little bit icy, but again, no wind or rain which is the most important bit. The moon looked really magical this morning too. Not sure how many of these mornings are going to be left, but I do enjoy them. Here is the linky to it. I know its exactly the same as a few others but it's there and it's proof.

Another bit of very lovely running related news, wifey has joined the running world - huzzah!
This is a major thing for her. She is making a serious effort to get fit and lose weight. I have known her for over 10 (I think!) years and never once has she expressed an interest in running. She is the first to admit that she is not built for running, at school she was a putter of shots, that is how much of a non-runner she is, aside from that, she has had severe asthma problems from a very early age. The one time she had to run at school was on sports day and was pretty much forced into it. It was the 200 meters and she had to be taken to hospital afterwards! That put her off anything faster than an annoyed stomp for a very long time.
But today, after a couple of weeks of Wii fit+ she went out with George in the buggy and the C210K app on her phone and did the running thing.
Do you know what she said?

"I think I might skip straight to week 2 of this thing on Saturday, I was just getting going and I had to stop running and start walking!"

GO CHELLY.......WOOOOOOOOOO

Maybe she will sign up to try the Juneathon, we'll see.

Oh, and I practically got accused of tea-leafing from the garage earlier! I wanted to buy some ginger beer. Obviously it wasn't until I was on my home again that I thought of what to say. Nevermind, that's the Brits for you!

See y'all tomorrow.

Wednesday, 19 January 2011

Oh my! I'm soooo glad I ran tonight!

Seriously, I really am.

All day long I felt blah and feh and really couldn't be arsed to do a damn thing. I was the grumpiest grump in the whole of Grumpton. My golly gosh, I'm so happy I started running again last year. I didn't exactly get the runners high, but I did get the shivers down the spine and fuzzy feelings.
It was a beauty of a run, nothing spesh about the route at all, I used to ride it twice a day when I lived with the in-laws for a couple of years, I think it was a combo of a lovely clear sky, no wind at all, hardly any aching (yaaay pills) and some old skool (pre 2000) hard house choonz. Shiny run time.
Possibly the only downer on the run was when I was going through Didcot, past the station, 3 yoofs walking towards me, 1 boy and 2 girls, and I was nice and moved onto the road (on-coming traffic side) so that they didn't have to, nice chappie that I am. The cheeky bastid "boy" decided to take the piss out of me. I'm glad I had the choonz in my ear so I couldn't hear what he said, tosser. I'll push the little shite into the road next time he does it, grrrrr.

On top of this, I won all 3 matches at TT tonight, including beat my nemesis Charlie, who previously beat me in the league and in competition, in 5 games BOOOOOOO!
Unfortunately we only managed a draw, which is not going to help our promotion charge at all.

An almost tip top night. Off for cuddles with wifey woo now.

Nighty night.

Injuries everywhere!

Yes yes yes, I have another one, woohooo!
I think I'm falling to bits, and it's all because I want to stop myself falling to bits when I get older. Hmmm, summit not quite right about this.

As well as having what can only be called friction burns on my back, I shaln't bother with another picture as they actually look pretty crap in a picture, really impressive when I look in a mirror though, I have now also got a gammy big toe, on which I had to perform some minor surgery just a little while ago in the hope that it will get better, it involved popping things with a pin and some squeezing of said things. No further details needed your honour. I was going to take a pic and shove it on here but can't bothered, I figure you've probably had enough of me bleating on about constant injuries so from now on I shall stay schtum about them, unless my leg or some other item falls off because of excessive running.

On with todays run then.

Not very exciting I'm afraid, don't really get to see a great deal at 5.15 in the morning at this time of year apart from blindingly bright headlights. Oh, that reminds me of a little tip that I've found works quite well. If there is an arse driving a car towards you with the lights on full beam, I have found that lowering my head down so as my chin is almost touching my chest and then looking up through my eyebrows seems to block out a lot of glare.
Hey-ho, on we go. Left Harwell at 5.15 on a 50 min easy run and though to just do an "out-and-back" effort this morning, and by gum wasn't it an effort, still stiff and a bit sore from yesterdays epic, (well it was the 2nd longest run I'd ever done!) but very enjoyable run. Got back home at 6.10, got changed, jumped on the bike and piddled off to work.

I'm now in a bit of a quandry as to what to do tomorrow. I really should do some intervals but I'm not sure I'm up to doing the planned 70 min session, and defo not as a before work sesh. On the other hand, I have a TT match tomorrow night over at Upton which is around a 4 or 5 mile trip from work. I could run there, but don't want to destry myself before the match. Hmmmmm, decisions decisions.

Join me again tomorrow night when we'll be discussing how close to going gangrenous my foot really is.

Nighty noo.

Magic, magic, magic!

Lovely day of running today.
It didn't look to promising when I got out of the pit this morning after nice sleepy morning cuddles with George, the rain was a-bucketing down, which wifey experienced first hand when she took Sammy to school (tee hee).

I had the decency and good manners to wait for wifey's friend to come round before I cleared off out, the girl is a numptie!
Luckily it had pretty much stopped raining when I left the flat with Ross Laidlaw's Attila in me earoles and RK set to 8:24/mile.
Bit toit like a toiger to start with but soon loosened up by the first mile, and under target pace too, which was nice. Plod, plod, plod into, through, round, behind and out of Didders, following the path behind the Power Station and into Sutton Courtenay, along Harwell Road, into Milton Park and back out t'other end and into Milton Village. Ah, I spy daddykins on his way up to Bowls practice, stop for a min to have a chat then on my way again, through Milton Village and right back into Sutton Courtenay, at which very annoying point I had slipped behind my target pace so was trying to catch it back up in the last mile or so when an arsing gert lorry flagged me down to ask for directions to a company that were about 5 miles away. He was a jolly foringer so it took a while but the best I could offer him was a left at the roundabout and into Milton Park, and follow signs for Southmead. I'm not even sure if they are still there!
Anyway, got a shift on for the last little bit and finally stopped the clock outside mummsie's.

Not to shabby if'n I say so me'sen like.  Just outside my target pace but I blame the lorry driver for that. Can I keep that pace going for another 3 miles? I don't know, but that is what the training is for!

I'm not sure what I have planned for tomorrow, aint looked yet, but if nothing else I might kick out a 10k'er on the way to work all bright and early like.

See you all in the future!!!

The point of no return.

Yep, it's gone. Over the halfway mark now, if I was to quit now I'd be kicking myself up the ring for a very long time. And a seriously well done to everyone still going. (I realise that only about 6 people will read this!)

Not really a great deal of stuff to report on, I think George slept through the night again, result! Could be that the dummy (pacifier) has gone, but I did wake up before my alarm went off at 5.30, with some horrible tickle of a cough, swine thing.
Anyway, up at 5.30, vit pills followed by paracetomol and ibuprofen, then bag packy time. A little tip for you by the way, don't run with a 6-pack of muller yoghurts at the bottom of your rucksack, serious ouchness! and off out the door at 6.15.
Only running to work but it was quite windy, although pleasantly the wind was behind or to the side of me for pretty much the whole run, and I did have quite a heavy bag, so allowed myself 45 mins to get in. As it was I made it in under 35 mins! even though most of it was spent with my thumbs tucked in the shoulder straps army style to try and stop the bag rubbing on my back.
The dangers of carrying yohurts with you on a run

One thing I did notice on the way in, I really hope that the shadow I see when a car comes past me does not accurately represent my running style! and hopefully it is just my shadow that runs with a "Dale Winton style" mince.

Anyway, thats my jibber jabber done for the day. 90 mins @ h/m pace tomorrow. I shall report back here again tomorrow to let you know how it goeth.

PPP.

Saturday, 15 January 2011

Bah! and very booo mid point.

I will not quit this Janathon thing no no no.
Come on legs, don't you go and pack up on me now you useless things, grrrr.

I did run today, although not as much as I'd hoped.
I had a 1 hour interval session planned - 30min easy-2min@4.30/1min easy X 5-15min easy. I looked at the weather and my planned route, don't think so old bean, not today. Instead I though I'd just plump for 60 mins@h/m pace which works out to be about 3 laps of the village.

Not happening!

Got out the door, had the choonz in me ear, got to my start point and pressed go on RK.
The first 5 mins were ok, bit tight in the calves and a spot of achey in the shins but I thought I'd run this off.
Hell no!
It just got worse and worse. I managed only 1 miserable mingey lap, by which point I was struggling to keep going. Nah, home boi. Pills (yes, more damned pills!) and bath for you matey.
The hurty shins I shall put down to a combo of all this running AND 2 TT matches on Thursday and Friday. You may not think so but there is a lot of pressure on the shins during a TT match and TT shoes don't offer the most amount of cushioning at all.

There won't be much of a recovery for them though, as I am working tomorrow and there is only 1 way for me to get there, yep, gotta run it. No buses that early on a Sunday and my bike is already at work, and no, neither me or wifey can drive. And to top it all off I have to carry my lunch stuff in with me in my large rucksack. Not sure how much of it will survive being jiggled around on my sweaty back.

Anyway, I'm still going and I shall keep going until I hit the stop and save button on RK on the 31st of Jan. I'm almost resigned to the fact that the 405 is going somewhere else, but bugger it, I'm challenging myself now to finish this as believe or not, I'm really enjoying it.

Thanks peeps,

See you all tomorrow.

Lazy lazy lazy!

Not lazy in the way that I didn't do todays run, because I jolly well did and here it is if you don't believe me!
No, lazy in the fact that I didn't get up and stay up when my alarm went off. I did a stupid thing and sat back down on the bed instead of hauling my sweaty carcas off to get my gear on and sort my bag out for tonight's match. Next thing I know, its 6.07 of the am!! Eeeek, I was supposed to do a 45 min run into work and get there at least 30 mins early, I start at 7am by the way, you work out the timing.
Shit, shit, shitter, shit, as mentioned previously this month. Not only that, it's bin day too, chop chop Walker, changey bag in the food bin and the proper bin, get them outside and get that wheelie jobby out there.
Job done, *looks at clock*, squeal - 6.40, go go go.
"See you later Sammy, be a good boy."
"No!"
"Fair enough, I'll see you tomorrow morning then, bye bye."

"See you tonight then my deary, probably be back around 11 or half past"
"If it's half past I'll be asleep, True Blood finishes at 11"
"Righto, I'll see you in the morning too then, nighty night." *smooch*

And off I trot.
Wasn't too bad a run, I've had better, but still I think this every day running stuff is defo not the best way to train, still very enjoyable though. Weather was ok, few spots of rain, no wind and most of the puddles from yesterday had gone too, which was most welcome.
The blister on the left toe seems to be going away, the ligament in the knee seems to be recovering and the general tightness in the calfs and thighs seems to be going too, result.
One thing though, my stride length has changed, not sure if it's longer or shorter but I know I couldn't keep rythm with podrunner at 171 bpm. Hmm, have to work on that one later.

Cheers m'dears.

Speak again tomorrow.

Thursday, 13 January 2011

Pop my blisters, we're nearly half way there!!

Yes I know, its hard to believe in't it. Almost half done, and ooohh, spooky, 13 is the opposite of 31.

Not really much to blog on today as I only did a short recovery run to my TT match (which we won, woo hoo) from work this evening. The legs are still going, a bit of tightness but not too bad. I have a slight blister but again, not a problem.
It was nice to have a lay in this morning, only having to get up at 6 instead of 4.30, and get at least 7 hours of the solid in. However, back on the training tomorrow morning with a 45 min bimble.

See y'all.

Oh, by the way, I think the Magpies are gathering!

Wednesday, 12 January 2011

Proper Janathon weather is here!

Wet, windy, raining, pretty chuffing chilly and jolly dark too.

The description of the weather conditions for day 12 of the J-thon as at 5:15 this morning.

What shall I wear for todays run young Stupot, say I to myself?
Hmm, how about a long-sleeve (not-so-compressive) compression top and a pair of shorts that would make Kylie blush?
Yeah, nice one Stuboi, go for it. They wanted hardcoreness, they shall have it!

Off I trotted on the planned 80 min long run with the route all planned out in the freshly shawn skull. This was going to take me straight to work so I didn't need to worry about getting too covered in kak, yay for mud and dirty gert puddles, shame they're so effin cold when you get splashed up your chuff. Brrrrr.
Aside from the horrid weather and darkness, and countless pairs of glowing green eyes watching me from the bushes, it was quite a nice run. My leg felt ok, still a touch of tightness behind the knee, and now the left calf is starting to feel the extra pressure from the rubbishness of my right leg.

Hopefully all will be well for the morrow, when I shall just be doing a short recovery run into Didders from work in the evening. Not sure how much recovery there will be as I shall be running to the Marlborough Club to play TT, should be ok though.

See you all tomorrow, about 11 pm ish.

Tuesday, 11 January 2011

Morning has indeed, broken. Day 11.

Day 11 dusted with a steady (by steady I mean snail pace) plod into Didders and back. Not quite as early as yesterday, but still, 5.15 is plenty early enough. And if anyone is interested, George woke up 3 times last night, so again, a restfull dos was not had, but at least when I did get up I could hear the birdies peeping and tweeting, which was nice.

Still don't know what is going on with my stupid leg, damn thing aches pretty much all day even if  it's only a bit, but once I start running it feels like it (either a tendon or ligament) is going to snap, especially when going up hill. It's not epecially painful, just effing annoying. It don't help much when I have a long run planned for tomorrow morning, so that'll be another stupid o'clock start then. Not sure if I'm going to run first then get changed and go to work or stay in bed for a wee bit longer and just run the 1hr 20 (approx. 9 miles) route I've got semi-planned straight into work.

You'll find out on the morrow me hearties.

Chiroo.

Who needs alarm clocks!

Howdy folks.

We're 1/3 down with 2 to go, and I must say, it's gone by very fast indeed.
Had a tasty little 6.5 mile long interval session this morning at very stupid o'clock - 4.45 in fact.
I actually had my alarm set for 4.15 and went to bed last night at around 10.30 in the vain and stupid hope of getting a good few hours kip in.Waste of time that was!

George, my youngest son is still not sleeping all through the night, maybe once every couple of months he manages it, but other than that, me or wifey can expect to get woken up at least twice a night. We're used to it now so it's not much of a bother to us, not that it isn't welcome he does sleep through mind.
Well, last night was all set to be an all nighter for him, mainly because he didn't go to bed till quite late and he was ultra fagged out.
Guess what? 3.30 am and our bedroom door opens, and sillohetted there like some ghoul from a very bad horror film is the figure of Sammy - my eldest boy. There he was whimpering and sniffing, we thought he'd had a scary dream or wet the bed or something, these things I'm sure know are forgivable in small children.
Do you know what he was crying about?

Because he didn't get a story at bedtime!!!

If he had just accepted the explanation of "you fell asleep before I had a chance to read you one Sammy, and it's too late now", we wouldn't have minded so much, but no, he had to carry on whimpering and crying for another 20 minutes back in his bed, and to top it all off he woke George up, who was in fact a very good little pieface and just laid there waiting for the noise to stop so he could go back to sleep.

Please boys, can we have full kip tonight. Would  be very much appreciated.

It was actually quite a pleasant run, except the point of there being no light what so ever. There was no traffic to block out the sound of choonage, no stupid people (apart from me of course) to get in the way, hardly any wind at all, and best of all, no rain. There was however a sore leg, which was not so pleasant. I'm hoping the liberal scoffage of pills at regular intervals will make it all just go away. The pain I mean, not everything!!

Anyway, I'm offski now to get changed and prepare myself for the very windy ride home.

Ta taa.

Sunday, 9 January 2011

Eeeek! Nearly forgot to blog.

Nice run today, over 5.5 miles of sunny blueness above and not a breath of wind to push me back.
This was me starting the catch-up on my half marathon training, a nice 45 min run that I did slightly faster than I was supposed to, and I got a shock when the RK lady told me how far I'd run after the 45 mins, so much so I gave a bit of a hoot of laughter and surprise.
"Why did you hoot Stuey old boy?" I hear you exclaim.
Well, when the lady voice said "Total time, 45 minutes, 16 sekinds (she is American by the way and that pronunciation starts to get on your tits after a while), total distance 5.63 miles" I was very surprised, as I'm sure you know 5.63 miles is also almost 10km. Wowee thought I, I nearly hit one of my main running goals without trying, whoop whoop. It wasn't till about a minute a 2 later when it dawned on me that 10km is actually 6.2 miles. Shit, shit, shitter, shit, shitter! I was still half a mile off the 10k mark, and my average pace was 8:02 per mile, therefore it would have taken me another 4 mins to reach that 10k, which in would have made my time slower than my actual P.B. (P.R. for those in Amerca ;-)) of 48:57. Suddenly I was very depressed and deflated after such crushing realisation.
But hold on Walker, why are you now depressed, thinks I to myself, You've almost technically equalled if not beaten your 10k P.B. - AND YOU WEREN'T EVEN TRYING!!!, chin up old fruit, get in shape for the T & G in May and blitz it boii.

I'm suffering a bit now from hurty tendons (they effers behind my right knee) but I really don't want to stop, I'm thinking hit the drugs and keep going, hopefully they will strengthen with the running and get better. I really hope so anyroad.

1 hour interval session planned for the morning, shame I'm going to have to be out and about by 4.45 to get to work for 6.30!!! The phone is back on now though so should get the blog in nice and early.

Nighty night peeps.

Saturday, 8 January 2011

Bless my toe nails! Over 1/4 of the Janathon done.

Title says it all really. Congrats to me, and also to everyone else who has made it this far.
As much as I bum (twitter thing from a while back!) this Janathon and the whole running thing at the moment, I REALLY can't wait for just 1 whole day of doing naff all.

As for today's run, it was nice enough, felt strange running in the daylight, though I was cutting it pretty fine running at 1600 hrs+. It was a nice run in general though, legs felt much better today, which is a good sign, I think this coldy virusy thing is finally on its way too, although the voice is still a mite croaky, the nose a touch blocked and the lungs a smidge fragile, but apart from that, all is fluffy. And to top it all off, I averaged 8:20 mins per mile today which is very jolly considering the rest of the week has been hovering around 8:55 mark.
If you're interested, totals this week (inc. 1st Jan) are:
Milage: 27.39
Duration: 4:00:40
Ave. Pace 8:47 mins/mile
Ave. Dist. 3.42 miles
Ave. Dur. 30:05

As of tomorrow (day 9) I shall be picking up where I left off with my half marathon training with a 45 min run that was scheduled for my birthday (28th Dec). I think I shall test out the latest RK update for this tomorrow, which will mean no music or anything like that.

Thankyou each for reading this drivell.

Type again tomorrow.

Janathon "lucky" no. 7.

Ouchy ouchy oooch!

This running every day thing is starting to get a bit hurty now. Defo going to do a shorter recovery run tomorrow before I take the long way round to work to fetch my bike on Sunday methinks. That should take me beyond a marathon for the week.
Just the standard trundle back home from work tonight. I was supposed to go to a TT meeting and RAL but didn't fancy the hill climb tonight.

Thankyou shiny people for reading my rubbish.

See you again tomorrow.

Day 6 completed.

Well, what can I say. The only chance I had for a run today was the 3.5 mile trip into work this morning.

Not sure what I was expecting after last nights exer.... ekser.....excer...... run and ping pong, seeing as I had not played for a few weeks, and on top of that, didn't get to sleep till gone 1am, which by the way is a regular occurence for me when I've played TT.
Anyroad, I managed to haul the sweaty carcas I call a body out of the sweet shire of Sleepyland at around 5.45, with a little help from a crying George of course, got my kit on, chucked my bat and TT shoes back in my bag (I keep them at work) and chuffed off out the door about 6.35.

Off I trotted on the usual route to work in this fashion and felt strangely awake and easier in my running than last night, legs weren't too sore or tired, breathing was fine and I had the latest ep of Marathon Talk jabbering away in my ears, which was nice.
Now normally when I run with RK I have the audio cues piping up every 5 mins (on steady runs), but the last couple of days I have decided not to bother with that as I've been listening to audio books or podcasts or similar and the RK lady always starts talking at me in a vital part of the story/cast.
Because I have this turned off at the mo, I have no idea what sort of pace I'm running at, so, as I mentioned in yesterdays blog I was really suprised to find I had averaged a much faster pace than I thought considering how crappy my legs and everything were feeling.
Imagine then if you will, how very miffed I felt when I'd stopped and saved my run, and that effin effer of a woman told me I'd averaged 15 seconds per mile SLOWER when I felt ok, than I did when I felt poo! Grrrr.

Right then, as my legs are starting to seize up a bit, I think I shall just plump for the short run of a lap of the village tomorrow, just to stop them going too tight but also to act as a bit of a recovery for 'em. Back on the half marathon training on Saturday methinks.

Just under a 6th through the Janathon now.

Howdy y'all.

Quickly quickly, only got an hour left to get it in!

Day 5 all done and dusted thankies, with a 4.4 mile rune to TT practice at Moreton. Heavy heavy HEAVY legs man, not good at all. It felt soooooo slow I was actually suprised when the RunKeeper lady told me my average pace. If'n you want to see the stats n map n that ee arr.

TT practice was good though, played for 2 hours solid and beat a chap who previously beat me in a comp and in the league. If I enjoy all this blogging malarkey, I may start a ping pong one.

Cheers peeps, see y'gen.

Janathon 12.9% complete.

Yaay for early morning runs!
Strangely pleasant run this morning. Don't know why, I felt like crap. Heavy legs, laboured breathing and every now and then cough cough hack. Still, felt better when I got to work than I did when I got home last night. I shall pop the linky up on hither later on tonight once I get home to my lovely wifi.

Some of you may be thinking that this blog is suprisingly bleak and sparse looking in the fact that there are no piccies of either me or the places I run.
Well, there are 3 reasons for this. 1, it's always effin dark when I run, apart from weekends of course, 2, I run on my own so there is no one to take pics, 3, the only camera I carry round with me at all times is attached to my arm and plugged into my bonce telling me I'm 36 seconds behind my target pace!
I will try and get some pics up at some point but I can't promise anything.

Now, onto tomorrow's plod.
I have TT practice tomorrow night over at Moreton School and the only chance I shall have to run will be to get there. The only scary bit will be once I'm out of Didders, I'm also out of footpath and street lighting and I've never ran there in the dark before.
Must remember to pack my head torch and light clip for my Camelbak.
This is just over 4 miles, and I won't be able to blog the chappie and log the run till I get home about 10.30 at night. Could be close to get it in on time!!

See y'all a'morrah.

D3 done. And I don't mean that silly Ice hockey film.

WheezepantcoughspluttergasphackHWOARKKwheeze.

Think I'm still a bit poorly. By cripey that was cold out there this evening. I ran in -15C before krimbo and that didn't feel anywhere near as cold as tonight. Maybe because of the past few days I'm not sure, I'm just hoping it don't flare up that effin virus again. Still, for those of you interested have a shuftee at today's effort.
Not especially long again, but building slowly. Tomorrows run will be the same route but t'other way and at 6 in the morning! I foresee another chilly morn.

Coughcoughcough.

Think I better pop off and get some drugs down my neck.

Chiree-bye

2 down, 29 to go.

Well there we have it. Title says it all really.
Again only a short run as still feeling the effects of germs n that. Not coughing as bad as previous though which is a spee-lendid sign. I shall probably keep the runs shortish for the first week or so anyway, just to give me time to recover proper like, then I shall try to catch up on the missed sessions for the half mara training.

The run itself was pleasant enough, it was after all only to get to the nearest cash machine then bugger out of it back home again - hence - still, a good excuse to get out for a half hour shuffle. Oh and yaaay, I unlocked my 5k foursquare badge wooohooo. Sarcasm doesn't type very well by the way.

Tomorrows run will not appear till late as it's planned as my return trip from work at 7pm, only 6.5k, but as I say, I'm building up slooowly.

Pip pip B's n G's.

Saturday, 1 January 2011

Well here we go then, 1 of 31!

In a little while anyway.

I shall be off out shortly to do my first run of 2011 and my first of the Janathon.
I fear it shall only be a tiddler of around 25 mins - 1 circuit of the village - but this is mainly due to me being bleurgh over the last few days. The half marathon training is on hold for a few more days just yet as I'm pretty sure I'm not upto the times and distances required just yet, but seeing as this whole thing is a run-a-day, catching up missed sessions should be a piece of piddle, I hope!

I'm feeling a lot better now though, but there is still that nasty cough and lack of voice, which is mainly due to the boys playing up I reckon.

1 bit of news though which I am very happy about, wifey is getting addicted to wii fit+, and mostly the running section! She expressed and interest in running the 30th anniversary Oxford Town & Gown this year. This would make me a very happy chappy if she did this. By the way, she is sooo not a runner, although seeing as she's married a Walker she should step it up a bit, eh, eh, EH....... no? Ach well, had to try I suppose.

Anyway, I shall return here shortly with the link to the run and a short little section of blather about it, provided I don't collapse that is.
See you in a bit.
Tinkety Tonk.

"2 hours later!"

Here you go then, Janathon day 1 ploddage.

Very short run, as I said it would be. Felt ok though, legs felt suprisingly light and bouncy which was nice. And I only started coughing up the ribs once I'd stopped moving.
I expect I'll be hitting the same one tomorrow as I don't want to go potty too soon and overdo it like I have in the past when returning from injury.

So, on that note, see you all again on the morrow.

Toodle pip.
